I too bought the StreamSmart TV ST1 device. At first the device worked well for 4 months and then it became useless.

I contacted the sales person and they sorta explained the internal ownership problems going on inside the company. But I reminded them I had a 1-year warranty and asked what they were going to do to help me. At first there wasn't much they could do because they had heard the company was going out of business. Then I kept getting all these advertisements on my screen about buying an upgrade for $50 then it was $75. I was suspicious!

As the ole saying goes "fool me once and I'll admit I was a fooled, but fool me twice and then I have to admit I am a fool." But I stayed in contact with the sales person (Dan Martin from Tennessee) who I bought my device from, and he explained what had happened within the ownership. He finally convinced me to purchase this upgrade through him. I installed the upgrade and now everything works like it did when I purchased my ST1 streaming device. In fact, my device works better than it did when I originally bought the device.

I believe Dan Martin that he was just the sales person, and he had nothing to do with the serviceability what the former owners did to us customers. Dan Martin has put out an instructional video on how to download this new upgrade and he was most helpful and informative.

I am one who was willing to give the Streamsmart ST1 device another chance. I'm glad I did.

You will have to go through this again somewhere down the road , trust me. Like I said in my review, the box is awesome when it works the way it is supposed to but once (as I was told directly) technology advances the box needs to be upgraded.

I was told this AFTER I was told I would never need another box. Yes I would not need another box , I just need to keep upgrading it. You are lucky you can upgrade yours. I was told I would have to upgrade by buying a whole new versioned box for another 400 dollars ( but they would give me 550 dollars off.

Big deal I spent 360 on the first one so there really was no bargain.

I hate paying the cable bill, but to be honest when I had my StreamSmart I never knew if I was going to watch a full movie or sporting event with out some kind of problem, hence never asking my friends to watch stuff for fear it would go out for some reason. Good luck dealing with these guys but be prepared to open your wallet again in the future.

In my above comment they only offered me 50 dollars not 550. This is what happens after having a stroke, coordination goes way off in the fingers and other limbs.

This was my review . .

. and now I'm suspicious about this upgrade. This weekend I attempted to use my ST1 device after I did the upgrade. Nothing!

I kept messing with the device and doing the Factory Reset and Reinstall procedures and finally on Sunday evening everything came back working normal again. The sales person (Dan Martin from Tennessee) told me to give it some more time as he has experienced the same problem on his device and said the company was probably doing some updates. I'm still suspicious. I've come to the conclusion that if you buy this device thinking you can use it to replace your cable TV don't think it.

This ST1 device has shown not to be reliable. It's amazing when it works, but so far it isn't reliable from one day to the next. And as for technical advice . .

.

everything is done via email with the salesperson. I'm not very confident that I made a sound purchase.
